When the Evo 10 was officially released, the reception of the new generation Lancer Evo was mixed. Some people liked it, some didn’t. Initially, we thought the car was too bulky and lacked the aggressive lines the CT9A or even previous generations had. Over time, aftermarket companies developed simple bits of body mods to enhance the stock body style.
Our local friend Porson, owns this Red Evo X. This is a perfect demonstration of how those aftermarket companies were able to enhance the stock body look without going over the top. Porson previously owned a Honda Civic Si, FD2 with a Mugen RR conversion. Unfortunately it was written off in an accident cause by a light runner. Thankfully everyone was alright in that incident! As a full time student, Porson has slowly modified his Evo 10 into quite an eye catcher!
The first thing you notice on this aggressive front end is the AJRC carbon fiber front lip. This lip kit definitely sets the car off with the “don’t f*ck around with me” look. Peeking through that front bumper is a gigantic AMS front mount intercooler to bring that cold charge to the turbo. Rexpeed carbon fiber vents direct the air smashing the front to cool the brakes off.
Walk around the car and you see one of the most timeless wheels ever produced, Volk Racing TE37SL’s. How can you go wrong with those!? The pressed graphite grey color with the red super lap decal works hand in hand with the dark red paint and carbon fiber parts on this Evo. Porson wasn’t a fan of stretching tires, so in order to wrap up the 10.5 wide TE37’s, he opted for some meaty 275/35 Z1 Star Specs to keep his setup square.
Standing off to the side view of the car, you’ll see a nice functional stance provided by T1R coilovers. It’s not too low or not too high, a perfect height! While look at a side profile of the car, we also love the Varis side skirt extensions. This is one of the most popular side skirt options out there and we understand why it is. Paired with AJRC lip kit up front, the side skirt extensions complete the stylish aggressive look for this car!
Stock Evolutions are pretty fast out of the box already, but Porson added a few bolt on bits to improve that feel. T1R O2 housing, test pipe, and 76S catback exhaust offer that aftermarket exhaust noise stemming from the 4b11 engine. Upper and lower intercooler pipes were also added to the AMS front mount to boost efficiency.
All in all, Porson’s build is pretty mild compared to many others out there. But nobody said you had to build every part of the car to make it a sexy car! The scene today is mostly based on lowering the car and putting on some nice kicks, and this one fits right into the trend today. Thanks Porson for letting us shoot your car!
